Press information about File Recovery Hero
Everything a newsroom or a software directory needs — in one place, dated, without having to ask.
The short answer
You may use this material without asking us first.
The text and figures on this File Recovery Hero press page are cleared for reuse, including in shortened form. We only ask that you keep the section on product limits: data recovery is a field where inflated expectations cause real damage.

02 / Description
Descriptions in three lengths
One line: File Recovery Hero recovers deleted photos, videos and audio recordings from exFAT, NTFS and FAT16/FAT32 media and from disk images — read-only.
One paragraph: File Recovery Hero finds deleted and lost files on exFAT memory cards, on NTFS drives and in uncompressed disk images. The source medium is only ever read; recovered files are always written to a different medium. Instead of just listing hits, the app validates the recovered media and marks unconfirmed results. Available for macOS and Windows in four languages, for 50 euros once, with a ten-year term and two devices — no subscription.
In detail: The application reads the selected medium sector by sector and evaluates the exFAT, NTFS and FAT16/FAT32 file system structures. Where a directory entry survives, it takes the original name, folder path and exact size from it; where it does not, it searches free space for the signatures of the supported media formats and reconstructs start and end. Every hit carries a rating and a readable explanation of why the app decided that way. Before exporting, it checks the structure of the file; anything it cannot confirm is marked as unconfirmed instead of quietly counted as a success.
03 / Difference
What sets this software apart
- The source medium is never written to. Exporting onto the source is blocked by the application, not merely discouraged.
- Every hit carries an explanation. The app shows where name and size came from and whether the file's clusters are still marked as free.
- Unconfirmed results are marked as such instead of being counted as successes.
- One purchase, not a subscription: 50 euros once, ten years, two devices.
- No ad network, no bundled third-party software, no hidden installations: the archive contains the application and its open-source verification tools, and the app goes online only for licence activation.
- Interface and documentation in four languages, on macOS and on Windows.
04 / Limits
What this software cannot do
This section belongs in every mention. It is not fine print; it is the reason someone uses the product correctly or incorrectly.
- No file systems other than exFAT, NTFS and FAT16/FAT32. APFS, HFS+ and ext4 are not supported. With FAT the cluster chain of deleted files is released: contiguous data is read in full, fragmented data is marked as incomplete.
- No physically damaged media. A drive that can no longer be read reliably belongs in a lab.
- No bypassing of encryption.
- No repair of arbitrary damaged individual files.
- Compressed, encrypted and sparse data streams are detected but not offered as recoverable.
- No promised success. Whether a file comes back depends on whether it is still untouched on the medium.
The Windows build is currently unsigned and has not yet been tested by us on real Windows hardware. And the NTFS reader is so far proven against a purpose-built NTFS image, not against a volume formatted by Windows.
05 / Usage
Usage permission for newsrooms and directories
The text on this page may be reused in full or shortened, both for editorial articles and for entries in software directories. No separate request is needed.
The product name is never translated and never abbreviated: File Recovery Hero, in three words. It is not reshaped into a wordmark with a different spelling.
Please take price, term, device count and platform status exactly as stated in the table above. If a figure looks outdated, this page is the authoritative source.

06 / Media
Imagery and plain-text version for download
The press kit contains the product mark, the app icon, four screenshots of the macOS app in German, English, French and Spanish, and the text of this page as a plain text file in the same four languages. No request is needed.
The screenshots show the macOS app in version 0.7.5, rendered on 16 September 2026 directly from the program window of the shipping app, without the window frame. Which version is currently shipping is stated on the releases page; the interface can change with a new release.
- The images may be used in articles, reviews and directory entries about File Recovery Hero, online and in print.
- The product mark is not altered: not recoloured, not distorted, not built into another mark.
- The screenshots show the interface with synthetic data. They contain no customer data and no real recovered files.
- The text files in the kit reproduce this page. Where they differ, this page applies.
- Every file is listed with its size and SHA-256, so you can check that the kit is unmodified.

Common questions
May I use this text without asking?
Yes. The descriptions and key facts on this page are cleared for reuse, including in shortened form. We only ask that you carry the product limits across in substance.
Are screenshots and a logo available for download?
Yes, openly on this page: product mark, app icon, four screenshots of the macOS app and the text of this page in four languages, as a ZIP and as single files. Every file is listed with its size and SHA-256.
Can I get review access?
Write to info@file-recovery-hero.com and briefly name the outlet and the planned article.
Which figures go out of date fastest?
Version, file size and signing status. That is why those values are not here but on the releases page, where they are generated directly from the download manifests.
