The folder names and frame numbers were part of the directory the format overwrote, so files usually come back renamed. Anything the camera has already recorded over is unrecoverable, and a format that wrote across the whole card rather than a quick one leaves nothing to scan.

Sort the recovered files by capture time and look for an unbroken run rather than clusters with holes. Each ORF must develop at full resolution in a converter, and each JPEG must decode to its last row. Pairs that come back with only one half signal a partly overwritten area.
Keep the source until two verified copies exist. One working preview is not enough.
